International
Paper Donates Historic Building to Maine's
Paper & Heritage Museum
International Paper has donated
an historic home, that was used as the company's
Livermore Falls forest resources office, to Maine's
Paper & Heritage
Museum. The house will now be home to the
museum's exhibits.
The house was built in 1906 for
the Record family. In 1917, owner William Murray
signed the property over to International Paper,
and it became the residence for managers of International
Paper's nearby paper mill. In the 1970s, it was
converted to an office for the company's regional
forest resources team.

About
the Western Maine Paper and Heritage Museum
In 2002, a group of people
dedicated to preserving the history of the
paper industry in Maine came
together to establish Maine's
Paper & Heritage Museum, with
the common goal of capturing the cultural heritage
of the paper-making towns and mills along the
Androscoggin River . Its mission is to create
an exciting interactive museum where visitors
can experience life in a paper-making community,
as well as to encourage tourism, increase economic
activity and showcase the area's distinctive
heritage.
The Paper Museum has a fundraising documentary.
"Along the Androscoggin" Is
a 20 minute video about the paper industry and
the communities along the Androscoggin River.
If you wish to purchase a DVD call Sherry Judd,

of the museum will be underway and heading towards

of the house including a new garage roof. Displays
and exhibits on the first floor of the museum

Great news! Ware
Butler is donating the roofing
material for repair of our garage roof! Thanks
so much Ware Butler!!

Phase Two is being developed to include papermaking
techniques as well as an educational component.
Phase Two and Three will include video and audio
histories of community members of various generations
and ethnic backgrounds. |
